Yihun Celebration and National Love Week

Yihun Celebration and National Love Week

𞤴𞤭𞥊𞤸𞤵𞤲 Yìhun is the African Vodun deity of love. In Ajã language, 𞤴𞤭𞥊  means to love. Yì is an ancient deity concept in Vodún, but has lain dormant as such for some time. Vodún teaches that love is an essential part of sustaining healthy families and societies. As for the energy she represents, Yìhùn shares many similarities with the òrìṣà Ọṣun. Her colors are gold and white and her number is 6. She loves mangos, watermelon, black eyed peas, pomegranate, and bananas.

The Fá oracle states that when love is absent then divinity is absent. It states that yì is an aspect of a properly functioning and healthy 𞤧𞤹 sɛ (soul). She represents the divine chemistry and spiritual connections that lead to procreation. Yìhun is celebrated the weekend closest to the first full moon of the month of Gùfon. That means this year it is on Acɛkpikazangbe, Gùfon 24, 6266 (Saturday, August 25, 2025).
