The essence of this chant is to seek guidance and wisdom from the divine, with a focus on the sun as a symbol of light and knowledge

Han Hwezivɔ Azandin - Solstice Chant

Han hwesivɔ tɔn

Weziza e nɔ kɔ́n ɖo sɛ́xwé, bó nɔ́ gba kpé fí bǐ, bó nɔ́ gba kpé fí bǐ, ɖo do, kpódó fí e lín hú bǐ ɖo gbɛ ɔ́ mɛ lɛ́ɛ kpó 

The light which shines above in heaven, pervading all the spaces, pervading everywhere, both below and in the farthest reaches of the worlds 

Nǔgbó ɔ́, wěziza ɖokpó ɔ́ e nɔ kɔ́n ɖo gbɛtɔ́ sín lindɔ̌n mɛ é nɛ́.

This indeed is that same light which shines within the human soul.

Mǐ nɔ sɔ́ Weziza Ðaxó e nɔ nyí Hwezivɔ sin é; mǐ nɔ ba ɖɔ é ni sísɛ́ ayi mǐtɔn lɛ .

We choose the Supreme Light of the divine solstice; we aspire that it may impel our minds

Ayikúngban, Jɔhɔn, Jinukúnsin, Mǐ nɔ lin tamɛ dó weziza Mãwù tɔn e Hwè e nɔ kɔ́n é nɔ na mɛ é jí,

Earth, Atmosphere, Heavens, We meditate on the divine light of the radiant Sun this solstice provides, 

É ni hɛn linlin mǐtɔn lɛ lidǒ. Weziza Mãwù tɔn enɛ ni kɔ́n ɖò ayi mǐtɔn mɛ. Hwesivɔ ɖɔhun ɔ́, wěziza ce ní nɔ kɔ́n hwe bǐ nu

May it inspire our thoughts. May this divine light illuminate our intellect. Like the light of the sun may my light always shine

Hwe ɖaxó ɔ nɔ kɔ́n ɖò hwesivɔ hwenu ɖi gɔngɔn e ɖò linlin ce e Mãwù na mì é ɖɔhun. Weziza gbɛ ce tɔn wɛ nyí acɛ Mawu tɔn.

The Great sun shines in the solstice like the depths of my destiny given by Mãwù. The light of my existence is divine right.

Mɛ e jló ná cí wěziza ce é (é na bo ɖo xwégbe abǐ gbɛ ɔ́ mɛ ɔ́). Mǐ ní ma sɔ́ mɔ yě ó. Kpólí ce ná yí gbe nú yě ǎ 

Anyone who wishes to put out my light (whether they are in the home or in the world)
May we not see them anymore
My Creator will not agree with them

Fí ɖebǔ e nǔnyanyawiwa kplékplé ɖè é
Gbɛɖotɔ́ ce na wà nǔ ɖó kpɔ́ xá ye ǎ 

Wherever the gathering of evil is
My Creator will not cooperate with them

Hwenu e kéze ɔ́ ná hɔ́n ɔ́, hwe ná sɔ́ gbɛ ɔ́ bǐ dó ɖó xwé tɔn

When the day is broken, the sun will make the  wholeness of the world its home

Weziza susunɔ gbɛ mǐtɔn tɔn na kpó ɖò wěziza wɛ ɖò gbɛ̀ ɔ mɛ kpo ayi ce mɛ kpo .

The glorious light of our world will continue to shine in the world and within me

Lee un nɔ sɔ́ hwesivɔ e nɔ jɛ hwesivɔ jí é sù gbɔn é .
Nyɛ lɔmɔ̌ nɔ ɖó sísí nú ta ce

As I give honor to the solstice sun
I likewise give honor to my head

Nǔ taji e nɔ kɔ́n gbɛmɛ é, é wɛ nyí mɛ e è nɔ sɛn ɖò jinukúnsin é 

The essential nature illuminating existence,
is the adored one of the sky
